- The Focas Institute, DIT has been established under the HEA Programme for Research in Third Level Institutions, Cycle 1 (1999-2001).
- The Applied Optoelectronics Center was set up by Dr. Gerald Farrell in 1995. The activities undertaken by the AOC are mainly focused on photonics research in the following areas: ?
· Novel techniques for fast wavelength measurement
· Fast demodulation for FBG sensor arrays
· Bi-directional transmission over POF
- The Center for Industrial and Engineering Optics (IEO) is a research Center located in the Dublin Institute of Technology, and associated with the School of Physics. The Center specializes in holographic and interferometric techniques for industrial sensing, measurement and testing, and provides technical and R&D services to industry.
- The Center for Social and Educational Research (CSER) is a dynamic and innovative research and development Center which seeks to improve the quality of life of children, family and society.
- The Center for Transcultural Research and Media Practice (CTMP) offers a distinctive, interdisciplinary postgraduate and research environment, dedicated to scholarly and public understandings of globalization and migration, transcultural identity formations and the changing landscape of new media technologies and public spheres. The Center promotes the innovative use of lens and screen-based practice, allied to ethnographic methods in social research.
- The Communications Network Research Institute (CNRI) is based in the Focas Building at the Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT), Kevin Street, Dublin 8 in IRELAND. The CNRI was originally founded in July 2001 to perform pure and applied research in all aspects of communications networks. It is currently the home of a Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) cluster research project (NCNRC) involving measurement-based resource management in wireless networks, specifically the 802.11 WLAN and 802.16 WiMAX standards.
- Center for Research in Engineering Surface Technology has the following goals:
· To consolidate our position as an effective interface between industry and academia through intellectual partnerships.
· To strengthen our collaboration with SME's and multinationals enabling product development innovation, coating specifications and QC method implementation.
· To be a platform for applied research in surface science that will contribute to both academic and industrial growth on the Island.
- The Digital Media Center (DMC) is an expanding multidisciplinary research group based in the Faculty of Applied Arts, Dublin Institute of Technology.? The Center was established in the early 1990’s at the start of the digital media era and quickly became involved in industry sponsored projects, experimental production and the development of postgraduate education in the new field of interactive media.?
- The Dublin Energy Laboratory is a leader in science and engineering energy research in Ireland. It conducts research across a range of disciplines with key efforts organized into three themes of solar energy, building science and energy informatics.
- The Food Product Development Center is dedicated to developing innovative food concepts through investigating value-added opportunities in Irish and European markets.
- The Futures Academy was established in January 2003 and is located in the Faculty of the Built Environment in the Dublin Institute of Technology. We are a group of committed academic staff and researchers with a diverse range of backgrounds but with a common interest in 'futures thinking'. Utilizing 'futures' methods and techniques, The Academy aims to inspire and promote new ways of approaching change in every sector of society and at every strategic level.
- The 'Institute for Minority Entrepreneurship' was established to offer the different minority groups in Ireland equal opportunity through entrepreneurship education and training.
- The National Institute for Transport & Logistics (NITL)'s mission, as defined by the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment, is to promote the development of supply chain expertise in Irish business, both private and public, for the benefit of the Irish economy.
- The National Maintenance Center is part of the Dublin Institute of Technology provides a unique opportunity to utilize the diverse expertise available at DIT.
- Non-linear Materials Research Group
- PDC, an initiative of DIT, is a new style incubator which provides a range of services and facilities to dynamic Irish business, enterprises development programs, incubation space and facilities, business counseling, funding and acess to R&D expertise are all part of the package which enables enterprenuers to start-up and grow global business.
- Radiation and Environmental Science Center
- The Research Institute for Culture and Heritage (RICH) exists to foster the development of high quality research in culture and heritage related areas by leveraging the combined expertise of DIT's research community.
- Sustainability Research Development Group, established in 2004, is a dynamic research grouping committed to building capacity to meet the research needs of contemporary sustainable development issues related to buildings and the wider built environment.
